Chief of U.S. Pacific Fleet addresses the media at the opening
press meeting announcing begin of Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) work out 2012.
Twenty-two nations, 42 ships, six submarines, more than 200 jet and 25,000
personnel are participating in RIMPAC from June 29 to Aug. 3, in and about the Hawaiian Islands . The world's largest global maritime
exercise, RIMPAC provides an exclusive training opening that helps participants
foster and maintain the supportive relations that are critical to ensuring the
safety of sea lanes and safety on the world's oceans. RIMPAC 2012 is the 23rd work
out in the series that began in 1971.
